The new Acer Aspire R7 notebook that redefines the touch and type computing experience has captured two prestigious awards for outstanding design – the 2013 Red Dot and Computex d&i. In both instances the R7 was evaluated by a jury comprised of international design experts that bestowed the notebook with their seal of approval.

Acer Inc. announces the financial results of Q1 2013, with the consolidated revenue of NT$91.97B (US$3.08B), operating income of NT$29M (US$0.97M), profit after tax (PAT) of NT$515M (US$17.24M), and earnings per share (EPS) at NT$0.19.

At a press event held today in New York, Acer unveiled an updated and slimmed down Aspire V5 Series of notebooks and also introduced the powerful new Aspire V7 Ultrabook. The new V Series represents Acer’s largest and most versatile line of mainstream notebooks with numerous models available in a variety of colors with varying screen sizes, resolutions, with or without touch and with varying performance and graphics capabilities.

Acer’s latest advertising campaign follows Tiesto’s personal assitant, Vernon, using his Aspire P3 to turn into a Superstar DJ.

Acer’s T2 series touch LED monitors have been awarded with the Red Dot, one of the world’s most sought-after quality marks for excellence in product design. The award is presented annually in the international competition by a jury of 37 design experts for the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen of Germany. Design guru Jimmy Choo joined as a member of the jury for the first time in this year’s competition, which received 4,662 entries in 19 categories. The T2 was selected in the “computers and information technology” category.

Acer Inc. announces the 2012 preliminary financial results, with the consolidated revenue of NT$429.5B (US$14.7B), down 9.6% YOY, and operating income of NT$1.03B (US$35.2M). Due to the recognition of intangible assets impairment of NT$3.5B (US$120M), profits after tax (PAT) resulted in losses of -NT$2.91B (-US$100M), and earnings per share (EPS) was -NT$1.07.

Acer announces its entry to the professional workstation market with the Veriton P series and new Altos servers thereby expanding its commercial offering. Emphasizing flexibility for various customer needs, the new workstations and servers support a wide range of computing configurations and feature the Intel® Xeon® E3 and E5 processors, ECC memory, RAID support, and backup components to maximize the performance and run time.

Acer Inc. will hold its annual Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Forum on March 22 in Taipei. The two important keynote speakers for this seminar are Peter Bakker, president of World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD), and Mervyn E. King, chairman of the International Integrated Reporting Council (IIRC): both will join Chairman J.T Wang for the high level panel discussion. In addition, Acer has invited global non-governmental organizations (NGO’s) and stakeholders to explore sustainability topics with Acer’s suppliers. Throughout the course of the year, Acer’s effort in CSR has gradually been recognized, and the company is now leading in Asia as well as in the global ICT industry.

Acer today introduces its B6 Series and V6 Series LED-backlit monitors, targeted to business users. These monitors are made with post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastic and are EPEAT Gold registered in several countries, including Canada, France, Germany, Switzerland and the USA.

Acer will be showcasing its family of smartphones at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. Target users range from first-time smartphone buyers looking for intuitive simplicity, to tech-savvy customers in need of feature-rich multimedia and communication experiences. Acer's smartphones complement the company's other mobile products, which include tablets and notebooks, and the new lineup reinforces the company’s commitment to the smartphone market.

Acer today announced cross-platform support for AcerCloud, the company’s file sharing and media management solution, free to Acer customers. Consumers can now share, retrieve and enjoy their multimedia and data files using a variety of computing devices, regardless of which operating system they are running – Windows, Android or iOS.
